SafeComp 2026

Position track papers

 Call for Position Papers

Position paper submission: July 10th, 2026

Submission

 Scope

Position Papers at SafeComp are intended to provide authors with an opportunity to briefly present new ideas, work in progress, or opinion pieces addressing issues relevant to the dependable application of computers in safety-related and safety-critical systems. Authors of accepted Position Papers will be allocated a time slot in a dedicated session during the conference, where they will present their work and receive early feedback from the community.

Because they are brief and have a later submission deadline, Position Papers enable authors to:

  • summarise work that is not yet complete
  • put forward novel or challenging ideas
  • state positions on controversial issues
  • suggest new approaches to solving open problems

Contributions are particularly encouraged from industrial practitioners and academics who may not have been able to prepare full papers due to time or workload constraints but who nevertheless wish to engage with the SAFECOMP community.

 Submission Guidelines

Position Papers must be no longer than 2 pages and must follow the standard A4 two-column IEEE Conference Proceedings format (see the IEEE website for Word and LaTeX templates). Papers must be submitted by July 6th, 2026 (AoE).

As there is no revision cycle, submissions must be in PDF format and ready for publication.

Position Papers should be submitted via EasyChair under the track “Position Papers”: https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=safecomp2026

 Selection and Notification

Position Papers will not undergo full peer review. Instead, the Position Papers Chair and the Conference Program Chairs will perform a light screening of submissions. The selection criteria are:

  • relevance and interest to the community
  • ability to stimulate and engage the reader
  • submission time (in case of a high number of submissions)

Authors are therefore encouraged to submit their papers well in advance of the deadline.

The notification will be July 10th 2026.

 Publication and Presentation

By submitting a Position Paper, at least one author commits to registering for the conference and presenting the paper if it is accepted.

Accepted contributions will be published in the HAL repository (https://laas.hal.science/SAFECOMP2026/). At least one author will be expected to give a short presentation during the Position Papers session and present a poster during the conference (all information will be provided with the notification).
